REFLECTION

Experience

Throughout this semester, I'm glad that I got the chance to learn typography. Although in the process of completing the tasks, there is sometimes a feeling of stress, after finishing it, I felt a sense of accomplishment, especially in type design. Besides, I also think that typography is quite challenging for me, as we can only use very limited graphic elements to create type expressions that develop the message.

Observations

Throughout these lessons, I gained a deeper understanding of typography, for example from the lecture videos and the knowledge that was been taught by the lecturer in the physical lessons. In completing all of the assignments, I can observe the details and styles of each typeface. Other than that, since I was exposed to typography, I had changed my view about the type and viewed it from a different angle.

Findings

In this module, I have learned many software skills that I never used before, for example In Design and Fontlab. I also learned a bunch of typography skills like text formatting to make the passage more readable, creating an animation in Photoshop during type expression tasks which also help me in other modules, and many other skills. These skills are important to me, and I don't know if I can use them in the future, but they will definitely be useful in my design path.
